A letter published in The Guardian, co-signed by Michael Marmot discussing a child poverty report, led by Save the Children, suggesting that poverty levels in the UK are steadily increasing. It can be said that by 2020, "5 million children in the UK may be living in poverty."

"The rising statistics and research bear out what we are seeing on a day to day basis: more children with symptoms which are clearly linked to lower standards of living, such as asthma, bronchitis and anxiety-related illnesses"
